In this blog I would like to explain the major difference between a professional blog and the blog which is written for just as an hobby.
Let me start with explaining on what exactly a hobby blogging contains.
How does a hobby blogging look like?
A hobby blogging is done just to write any thing of their interest. For example, let’s assume Mr.Aravind is writing various blogs just because it is his hobby.
A hobby blogging is done just to write any thing of their interest. Share on XNow if Mr.Aravind is interested in reading books, tasting various foods outside, swimming etc. Now his blog contains topics related to all these. His blog is not focused just on a single niche, but is focused on his hobbies.
There is no rule that he follows when he writes a blog. He do not care about SEO, he do not care about the theme of his blog – as long as he likes it, he do not care to earn money from his blog.
He even do not do any competitor analysis before he write a blog. He does not even care to promote his blog in various channels to get traffic.
How does a professional blog look like?
One of the very first and most important factor on how a professional blog differs from hobbying blog is – a professional blog will have its own domain and hosting. It invests some money in getting them. Where as a hobbying blog might just be there in free blogging platforms like blogspot, wordpress.com, wix.com etc. (Unless the hobby blogger is serious to invest).
A professional blog is written keeping certain targeted audience in the mind. It focuses on a particular niche and cares about SEO.
Here are some of the SEO factors a professional blog majorly considers:
- Title Tag
- Meta Description
- Proper URL Format
- Header Tags
- Alt Tags for Images
- Internal and External Links
- Page Speed etc.
A professional blog is written only after performing keyword analysis on the topic they choose to write.
It tries to understand various issues or challenges faced by their targeted audience and write blogs to get them resolved.
A professional blog makes money by various ways like Google Adsense, affiliate marketing, selling ebooks, online courses etc.
It focuses on getting traffic and hence use various channels to promote the blog. Some of the channels they use are Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, email marketing etc.
Professional blog will never lose the opportunity to get recurring traffic. Hence they try to collect email Id of every visitor by offering something valuable for FREE.
One of the very important factor on how a professional blog differs with hobbying blog is – Consistency.
The blogger who blogs for hobbying blog writes only whenever he feel like or when ever he get some free time.
But a blogger who writes in professional blog is very committed and will have a blogging calendar ready. He do not just write in free time, he make sure he writes on consistent basis so that his targeted audience will not lose interest on him.
