What Is The Difference Between A Blog And A Website?

April 25, 2018

When I keep talking about on how to earn money online, I used to use words like website and blog.

People use to get confused on what exactly is the difference between a blog and a website. Some think that both are same. What Is The Difference Between A Blog And A Website_

But both are not the same and there is a difference existing between a blog and a website.

So in today’s blog I will try to explain their difference.

Just to make it simple – it is the difference in the format on how you exactly present your data or content.

What is a Blog?

Basically a blog will have a last published date or last updated date.

It follows a certain chronological order.

People can comment on blogs, giving their opinions or asking questions about that particular blog.

Generally if you wanted to write something about your expertise and teach people about it, then you should be doing it through a blog.

What is a Website?

The best way for you to understand on what a website is to think about the place where your products or services are displayed, where people come and buy them.

Blog is even a part of website.

But a website is more than a blog.

In general, the content in the website will be static.

The content will be presented in a more formal or professional way.

There will be only one-way communication and interactivity does not exist. People will not be able to comment here.

Anything present in the internet is through a website.

What are the common ones in both blog and website?

The main reason on why people get confused on what exactly is the difference between a blog and a web page is because of their similarities.

Here are some of the similarities that exists between both blog and a website:

  1. Both contain link texts, images, graphics, etc.
  2. Both of them have their unique URLs and can be accessed from internet through their URLs
  3. Both of them needs to hosted by some hosting provider like Bluehost.

Simple Example

Let me close the blog by taking a simple example, so that you might be clear on the exact difference between them.

Lets assume that there is a business which sells ebooks.

If this business mentions on what type of books they sell (comedy, kids, parenting, novels etc), how are they different from their competitors, who are the founders behind their business, how to order their books etc. – this can be treated as a website.

At the same time if the same business writes content on topics like – benefits of reading good books, 10 tips to select interesting books, 10 ways books are useful for your children etc. – then this type of content can be treated as a blog.

In the first case, their business is speaking specifically about their own products and about their own business.

But in the second case they are trying to write something in general to educate people.

I hope you got the thin line difference.

Conclusion

I will close the blog with a simple quote – “All apples are fruits but all fruits are not apples”.

Similarly, “Blog is a part of website but a website is not a blog”.

I hope I did not confuse you guys 🙂
