I know what you are thinking.
You might be thinking that you do not have time to monitor your own blog comments and why should you actually comment on other blogs?
Yes I understand, as a blogger you have to do lots of things like writing blog posts, promoting it, taking care of website issues, answering to your own blog comments etc.
But as a blogger I would also suggest you to add a new task to your to do list: commenting on others blogs.
Here are some of the reasons on why you should comment on other blogs:
-
To Build Relationship With Other Bloggers
When you continuously comment on other blogs, you will be notified by respective blog owners or respective writer who wrote those blog.
This can be of a lot of use to build long term relationships.
Commenting on other blog will help to build long term relationship. Share on XThis relationship can help you to easily write guest posts on other blogs.
Other blog owners who had a good email list, social media presence can promote your blogs published in your own website as there was a good relationship built between you over the long term.
You can even ask those popular blog owners to write a guest post in your own blog, which will help increase your blog popularity.
2. Useful from SEO Perspective
You might already know on how important SEO is.
One of the strongest factor which influences SEO rankings is the number of backlinks pointing to your site. Getting more backlinks (Mostly through guest posts) is the best SEO tip I can give you.
Commenting on other blogs can increase the number of backlinks pointing to your site.
But be very cautious.
It can be of use only when you write a quality comment.
Do not just write comment only to get a backlink.
Understand the blog and try to write a lengthy comment. Do not just write to spam.
The backlinks you are getting might be of a “no-follow”.
But do not worry about it. Even “no-follow” backlinks will have a little importance from SEO perspective.
3. To Drive Traffic to Your Blog
Yes, commenting on other blog posts will drive traffic to your blog.
But it happens only when you write a quality and informative comment.
A simple comment like “Very nice post, thanks for sharing” will be of no use.
As I told, always try to write lengthy and informative comments.
I always get inspiration from one of my favorite blogger, Riyan Biddulph on how to write effective blog comments.
Here is an example of one of the post where he commented: This is what I call as an effective, lengthy and informative blog comment.
Here are few tips on how to use blog comments to drive traffic:
- Try to be the first one to comment. Subscribing to their email list can help you with this.
- Have a proper image associated with your email address.
- Write detailed comments that provide some value.
- Try to answer questions that were asked in these comments section by other people. This can even build more trust.
4. To Increase Your Authority as an Expert
When you write a quality blog comment which is very lengthy and informative, it will be noticed by other readers of the blog.
This will make them think that you have a very good knowledge on the topic you wrote about and will indirectly make them think that you are one of the expert in that particular field.
But remember, this will not happen if you write a quality comment in one or two blog posts.
You should comment on continuous basis. Readers should be able to find your comment on wherever blog they go and read.
5. Increases Your Knowledge
To write a quality blog comment you should first read the blog completely. Only then you will be able to write a good comment.
So during this process of reading many blogs, you will be able to increase your knowledge.
This is because each bloggers writing style is different and each blogger have his own knowledge and perspective.
To Conclude
I am sure you are busy with your own blog. But I would strongly suggest you to add blog commenting to your to do list, keeping the importance of it as discussed above.
Happy commenting 🙂
At the same time please feel free to comment here as well.

Looking forward learning more each day.
